Talking Points: 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre
Here are two examples of talking point documents I’ve put together for various speaking engagements. Both of these examples reflect around the history and current events related to the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921- a devastating moment in our nation’s history, long suppressed, that activists are working to bring to the forefront of the national consciousness today.
Currently, there’s a reparations lawsuit that’s progressed further than any other lawsuit for direct compensation in the 102 years since the Massacre. Below I’ve written about the Massacre, the lawsuit, and the racial wealth gap.
I’ve also written about the Massacre in the context of the current push to designate Greenwood as a national monument. I wrote the below points for the Historic Greenwood District/Black Wall Street Coalition.
